About the library

Chirayu College of Nursing has a well-stocked, fully computerised library with up-to-date reference and course books for B.Sc Nursing and GNM students. It subscribes to many journals, periodicals, newspapers and magazines, and has a study room for in-depth study, along with videos, CD-ROMs and audio material across subjects.

The library is for bona fide students, faculty and staff of the college. Visitors from other universities or institutions may use it for a limited period with prior written permission from the Principal, and only within the library.

Books can be borrowed from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on working days. Reference books, newspapers, journals and magazines can only be used inside the library.

Rules and regulations

For faculty and students. These rules are reviewed by the Library Committee from time to time.

13Inside the library
  • Keep total silence in and around the library at all times.
  • Show your college ID before entering.
  • Mobile phones are strictly prohibited.
  • Leave bags, cases and folders outside. Do not leave baggage in the library overnight. The library is not responsible for loss of personal property or of books already issued to you.
  • Show all items to security before leaving.
  • Do not enter the circulation area without the library staff's consent.
  • Anyone marking, defacing or damaging books or other material must replace it with the latest edition.
  • Put books back on the shelf after use.
  • Do not move, modify or tamper with library equipment without the librarian's permission.
  • Eating is strictly prohibited. Help keep the library clean.
  • Newspapers and magazines are not issued and can only be read inside.
  • Reference material is not issued for any reason.
  • Carry your library card and show it when asked.
9Borrowing procedure
  • Borrowing hours are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on working days.
  • Only students registered in the current term can use library services.
  • Show your college ID before borrowing.
  • Materials may leave the library only after the staff issue them.
  • Students may borrow up to 3 books for 5 days; faculty up to 5 books for 8 days.
  • Return all borrowed materials on or before the due date.
  • Do not borrow on behalf of others or pass borrowed items to other students.
  • Students with overdue items or unpaid fines cannot use library services.
  • Return reserve materials at the time specified.
3Damage or loss
  • You are responsible for any damage to or loss of material in your possession, and must replace it within 15 days.
  • Check that books are in good condition when you borrow them, so you are not held responsible for earlier damage.
  • Lost books that are found must be handed to the librarian, quoting the accession register number.
2Exclusion from the library
  • Anyone who ignores the rules may be suspended from using the library.
  • Library staff may ask students to leave if they behave inappropriately or disturb others.
3No dues
  • Before getting the admit card and at course completion, students must clear all dues and return all books in good condition.
  • The librarian checks all dues and fines, and the condition of returned books, before signing the no-dues.
  • After course completion or when faculty or students leave, the librarian is directly responsible for any missing books or dues.
